THE WEEK THAT WAS
His second week in the DFC in his rookie season, Dan Sellers picked up his first weekly win... Week 2 DFC X.  It's taken that long to get a second win, but he manages to win it outright with an 8-2 record... so congrats to Lt Dan for the weekly win!

It's been a rough season thusfar for Jenie Ernst, but she takes 2nd place this week, while Mikey Nipp continues his hot streak with 3rd place.  Both are at 7-3.  In 4th place Big Tom Johnson goes 6-4, while Defending DFC Champ Zack Graves and Brad Ashby ties for 5th place.  Brad "The Lawdawg" Latta gets 7th place, and Joey Thornell and Big Eddy tie for 8th place.

Finally, Yours Truly, James Hawbaker and Tad "The Dynasty" Roose all tie for 10th place.

A few people asked me to change one of their picks before the games started-- double check that I did in fact change it...

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS
  • First up, Matt Halpert survives a brutal week in the league, as his 6-4 record pushes him to 24 straight weeks with at least a .500 record or better.  He is now tied with former DFC'er Gary "The Idol" Eubanks for 2nd all time.   To put it into perspective, the 24 week record was set in DFC VII and VIII, which was in 2006-07, so it's pretty rarefied air.
  • To pass Tad Roose for the all time record, he'll have to continue going 4-4 or better (or 5-5 or better, depending on the number of games that week) until Week 8 of DFC XVII in 2016.
  • Resurgances have been a big part of this year's season, with two names as most notable--Michael Nipp and Mark Warner.  Michael hasn't seen the postseason since DFC V ten years ago, while Mark, in his 4th year, hasn't really come close.
  • Mikey, a 15 year DFC veteran, has had struggles year after year... if you only count regular season wins, without playoff numbers, he ranks 15th on the all time win total--that's behind six DFC'ers like Tad Roose, Eddy Jr and Scott Latta, who started a season after him... and he's also behind Mark Gainey, who started TWO full seasons after him.  Mikey's highest season win total was 65, in DFC V, when seemingly everyone had a good year. Take that out, and he's hit 55 wins 3 times -- DFC II, III and XII.  He's averaging just over 6 wins per week, and at this current pace, he'll get 61 wins this year.
  • Mark Warner is following suit with his beloved Miss State Bulldogs, who are also doing okay this year.  His previous win totals are 44, 54 and 51, so he's also on pace for 60 at his current rate.
  • Speaking of Mark Gainey, he's one of the most decorated DFC'ers in league history, starting in DFC III, winning at least 60 games 8 times in his career (a record) and 5 of those years were consecutive (another record), propelling him  to 8 consective postseason appearances (another record) and five division titles (and another record).
  • He is edging ever closer to another feat as well... his playoff wins move him into the All Time Win List, but if you count just regular season games, he's in 12th place with 770.  Daniel Powell is in 11th with 771, DMOsborne in 10th place with 772 and Tom Johnson in 9th with 774.  It's very likely that at his current pace, The Mighty Gainey will overtake Powell, Osborne and Johnson to become the first DFC'er to get to the All Time Top Ten Regular Season Wins with only 13 years in.  The others mentioned all are on their 15th year.
  • Furthermore, Scotty Latta (781) and Jonathan Osborne (785) are next on that list, so Mark could find himself in 7th place all time, chasing Drew Morris for 6th.  Drew has 795.
  • Speaking of Division Titles, we mentioned that Gainey has 5 trophies to his name... he's actually fending off Chris Croyle and rookiee Remodeling Clay Shaver for his 6th one... but Tommy McLeod can also lay claim to part of that record
  • Tommy also has 5 division titles, but one of those was in the West, in DFC II.  He has won 4 in the MidCentral, which didn't come around until DFC V, when the league was split into 6 divisions.   James Hawbaker also has 4, winning the East once, before moving the South after realignment, where he has won 3 more (including being the defending South Division Champion)
  • Jenni Ernst also has five, winning one in the North Division, then four more in the MidCentral (she's the defending champion currently), while Drew Morris has won four in the West (also the defending division champion).
  • Of those who have 3 divisional championship trophies on their mantle:  Scotty Latta (Central Division, is the champion)... Matt Halpert (North Division)... Matt Latta (North Division)... Yours Truly (East Division)... Tim Wasyluka (two in the Central, one in the South)...
  • I did forget to mention two more names who are having banner years... Chris Croyle being one.  Croyle, now in his 7th season, has never seen the postseason, and is in the Top Five all time of most games played/picked with no playoff appearances.  Currently at 37-21, he's on pace for 60 wins.
  • Eddy McBroom Jr, who is now in his 14th year, won 63 and 65 games in DFC IV and V, but since then, has only gotten to the playoffs twice--VII and XI--and flamed out quickly both times.  DFC XI was his last divisional title, but is leading Michael Nipp by a game, and is on pace for 65 wins this year.
  • DMOsborne isn't doing as well, looking for his own resurgance... or surgance, really.  But he did cross 800 All Time Wins (playoffs included), so that helps.
  • Since last we gave you L,DL&S, Drew Morris and Big Eddy Sr hit 900 wins lifetime, while Tyler Campbell's 2-8 record was enough to stumble to 600 wins overall.  Matt Halpert reached 500, Hurricane Rhett Barnett crossed over 300 to 306 total, and Mike Beirne is now at 101 wins overall.
  • Rookie of the Year Battle is tight thusfar, with Remodeling Clay Shaver, the pride of Michigan, is leading the pack with 36 wins, but Matthew Pinkerton is close by with 35 wins, and Bronson Kilgore is right behind them with 34.  Young Mitchell Pinkerton has 31.
  • From bad to worse for Drew Warren, as he is now 4 games under .500, and is on track for his worst season ever.   His weekly average projects him at 47 wins this season, which is 1 game under the 48-win break-even mark.  His worst season of his previous 4 years was DFC XIII, when he went 50-46, but that will be difficult to do.
  • However, the worst full season ever belongs to Josh Crosby, who went an abysmal 39-57 in DFC II... so there is that to shoot for.
