Mark Gainey, in his 6th straight playoffs (a DFC record), is seeking his first Deuce Bowl ever, after reaching the Final Four twice, while Trey Cartledge, the '06 New Orleans Saints of the DFC (without the hurricane), is, in his first postseason appearance, a part of the DFC VIII Final Four.

Finally... after over a week from being back from Disney World, I thought it would be good to finish up Week 12 results, and give some regular season information as DFC VIII comes to a dramatic close.

FYI... my worst nightmare would be one of you emailing me to tell me that I missed a game you picked, resulting in you missing the postseason when you should have been in it, were it not for the game I didn't get right from you. Just know that if this in fact did happen, at this point, there's nothing that can be done. Like a ref the costs you a shot at the title, thems the breaks. And I apologize. The Week That Was
In a fitting end to a crazy college football season, an unpredictable DFC season and a maddening NFL season, for only the second time in DFC history, ending the season there is a three way tie for Week 12's weekly crown...

Mackey, gets a share of his second week in a row, Drew Morris gets a piece of his record-tying 6th weekly win (and probably securing his first MVP title), and Trey Cartledge gets a share of his first weekly win ever. Just like both USC and LSU were both champions, even though they were "co-champions" in 2004, Mackey, Trey and Drew will all get a "win" in the record books, even as "co-weekly champions".

Coming in 4th, defending DFC Champion Tad Roose, while in 5th, in another tie, Tommy McLeod, Mark Gainey and James Hawbaker all have huge weeks to lock up playoff spots and division titles. For 8th, Matt Halpert, likely securing Rookie of the Year honors, while in 9th, Eddy Jr is the final 7-1 of this last Top Ten. In 10th, Gina Roose makes a rare appearance at the top, getting a 6-2 mark.

Its only happened five times out of 94 possible regular season weeks, and here's the fifth... James Hawbaker takes his 3rd week of the season, while sharing the weekly win with Ken Mackey, who gets his first weekly win of his 2 year career.

Lots of ties this week, as Scott Latta and Matt Latta both share in 3rd, while The Mighty Mark Gainey, vying for a record 6th straight playoff appearance, gets 5th all by himself. Lies, Darn Lies & Statistics

• The postseason is here, if you can believe it, and it looks as though Jonathan Osborne might get the playoff monkey off his back. Its been said before how he's long held the record for longest career without a postseason appearance (currently at 83 regular season weeks--will be 84 at season's end), so who's next if Jon doesn't have that record anymore?
• That would be Sarah Hasha and Jason Demastus, but you truly have to give the nod to Sarah, who has turned in games every week, while Demastus has been known to miss a few from time to time. By the end of the season, she'll have completed 72 weeks with nary a playoff game decided. After her, it falls to Tyler Campbell and Garrett Cheney, with 60 weeks.
• The DFC Triple Crown would be winning the College, Pro and TBA titles, and has never been done. Drew Morris has a shot at it this year, though, appearing the top five of each of the major catagories. This would almost certainly guarantee him an MVP title
• Who's up for MVP this year? You gotta think Jon Osborne first, but he's slacked off in a last few weeks since spending 5 straight weeks at the top. Drew Morris has the best record (so far), while both Matt Halpert, Jason Duren and Ryan Sherman all have equal records to Osbornes, though neither Ryan nor Matt have seen #1 yet.
• Rookie of the Year comes down to two: Matt Halpert, coasting to a North Division title, and Clif Render, who looks close to getting an East Division title and breaking Gainey's five year streak.
• The Osborne Award, named for David Mark Osborne, is typically the best player to NOT make the postseason, sort of like the NIT winner being the 66th best team in the country, so the OA winner would be the 17th best in the league. Potential winners this year include Mark Gainey, Jennifer Ernst, Lori Beirne, Barney and possibly Yours Truly, though I'm leaning towards Tom Johnson, who missed a week and still managed to storm back to almost make the postseason--though it would absolutely take a miracle to do so.
• I'll be in Disney World for over a week starting Friday, so more than likely, you'll see few, if not zero, LDL&S next week during Week 12 results, breaking a tradition that has been in every result email since... well, since I've been sending out results emails. At least DFC III or so. Hope you'll survive.

After careful consideration, to avoid the "everyone picks the same team" bug that sometimes happens in the NFL when there really just aren't that many good games, we're going six college and two NFL this week.

No, we've not started the Deuce Basketball Championships... this should be a really good game. While Cincinnati knocked out South Florida, UConn thumped Rutgers real good like, and I'm wondering if I'm the only one that thinks last year's Rutger's team was an oddity, rather than a premonition of how good they will be for years and years.

Sigh. Root for Auburn, Georgia loses... and Tennessee would probably go on to win the East in the SEC. Root for Georgia, Auburn loses, and LSU or Alabama represent the West in the SEC in the title game. This is a no win, for anyone.

So, what happened to Cal? Whatever, they should get trounced by the mighty Trojans, right? I mean, its not like USC lost to Stanford... wait...

Fresno State Bulldogs (6-3) at #16 Hawaii Warriors (8-0), 10pm
Boy, this should be no contest. After Hawaii barely got behind the 477th best team in the country, La Tech, they cruised past college juggernauts like Charleston Southern, Idaho (go Vandals!), and New Mexico State. I jest, but seriously, this would be Hawaii's first real test, considering their schedule is actually weaker than several Div I-AA schools (not joking). And Fresno State is no Northern Colorado. Though, Colt Brennen may actually pass for 322 yards by half.... of the 1st quarter.

For the 19th time in DFC history, a week has been won undefeated, and James Hawbaker does it with his 2nd weekly win of the season. This win has put him in a prime position for vaulting into the postseason. The rest of the top ten all finished with a 7-1 record.

Lies, Darn Lies & Statistics

• With two weeks left, there are a few close to "a sure thing" for the postseason, that being Drew Morris, Jason Duren and Gary Eubanks, and first time appearances for possibly Ryan Sherman, rookies Matt Halpert and Clif Render, and... could it be, after 7 seasons and 656 football games picked, that Jon Osborne finally sees the light of the postseason?
• Of course, there's no such thing as a "sure thing" until about the end of Week 12, hence Garrett Cheney's historic collapse in his rookie year of DFC V, when, in the last two weeks of that season, he dropped the ball... and Chris Fulaytar went 8-0 to knock Garrett out of the postseason contention (and later went on to win the whole thing)
• Week 10 of this season will be remembered as the best week ever, in terms of total victories. I didn't do all the math, but out of 36 people, only one had a losing record, and two went 4-4. The rest were above .500. That equals, if not bests, Week 12 of DFC V when Jon Osborne & Duren went 4-4, and Tommy had a 3-5 week, the lone losing record.
• Speaking of Garrett Cheney, he beat his rival Tyler Campbell to 200 wins, as Garrett hit 201 this week, compared to Tyler's 197.
• Looks like the next race to 200 will be next season, when Tebe (160), Gina Roose (157), Barney (154) and a few others look for the double century mark.
• When Pittsburgh beat Baltimore, a milestone was reached. Add in playoffs and regular season, Jennifer Ernst becomes the first DFC'er to 500 victories. Her 500-316 overall record is tied with Yours Truly for most games participated in, ever. 816. That's alot.
• Big Tim Wasyluka, our hero--he just joined the National Guard to serve the country--also crossed over 200 in the college records, while Tebe got to 100.

• From the "Out of the Mire" catagory... before this week, there were 10 who had not risen above the rank of 20 all season long. After this week, its only 8.
• The following have been ranked 20 or below, with their highest rank this season in ( ).... Mackey (22), Sarah (26), Tom Johnson (27), Tyler Campbell (20), Demastus (33), DMOsborne (30), Jason Turnbow (21) and Joey Thornell (34)
• And the following finally broke into the Top 20 for the first time this year, at just the right time as the playoff hunt is heating up... Trey Cartledge, who's previous high ranking was 21st last week to #13 now, on the verge of his first appearance in the DFC Power Poll, and Yours Truly, who's previous high was also 21 (22nd last week), now at #14.
• On the same token, there are five who have never seen below the rank of 12, as in, in the Power Poll all season... Jonathan Osborne, Zack Graves, Tad Roose, Gary "The Idol" Eubanks and Scott Latta.
• By comparison, staying within the ranks of #12 to #1 all season was done five times in DFC IV, five times in DFC V and five times in DFC VI, but only twice in DFC VII.
• And its only been done 7 times ever by someone who didn't reach #1 that season, and not since DFC VI has it happened. Out of the five named above, Zack, Gary and Scott fall into that catagory
• How bad has it been for Jason Turnbow this season? In the history of the DFC Playoffs, out of 130 playoff weekly records ever, only five times has a 2-6 or worse been accomplished. Eddy Jr and Jason Turnbow did 2-6 last season, bouncing out of Wild Card Weekend.
• Turnbow spends his first week at the bottom of the Bottom 5 this week, but the true tragedy comes when you realize that ahead of him is #33 Jason Demastus, who missed a week, #34 Joey Thornell, who started late at 0-12, and #35 DMOsborne, who also missed a week. Jason has turned in every week, and is one game behind DMOsborne.
• And since you're wondering who are the others, I'll tell you... Tim Wasyluka went 1-7 in DFC III postseason, which is actually the worst playoff performance ever.
• The only others to go 2-6 include Daniel Powell (DFC III), Justin Glenn (DFC III), Justin Glenn (DFC V), and then last seasons Eddy Jr & Turnbow.
• On the flip side, Tom Johnson also missed a week, sitting currently at #27. His 38-34 is remarkable, as he was at least 5 or 6 games under .500 at one point. In fact, this week he even managed to get back into a tie with Jennifer Ernst in the All Time Pro Catagory.
• Also climbing is Daniel Powell, who's 247 college wins equals that of Michael Nipp's 247, but Daniel's 168 losses, less than Mikey's 180, puts Daniel into 4th all time in college.
• Drew Morris jumps into the All Time Top Ten, passing Eddy McBroom, for 10th all time, knocking Big Eddy out for the first time in about three years.
• Crawling toward 200 wins is Garrett (196) and Tyler (193), and Zack Graves just hit 100 (102). Trey Cartledge is up next for 100 at 92 wins.
• Gina "Wife of the Dynasty" Roose got her 100th college win this week, while Tim Wasyluka is up for 200 (199 now), and Tebe Shaw is next for 100 (97 currently)
• Gary "The Idol" Eubanks hit his 19th week at 4-4 or better, looking like he may make a run at Tad's almost impossible run.
• Jason Duren, on a run that might get him an MVP award, just crossed 11 weeks at 4-4 or better.
• Looking at 5-3 or better, which is an even harder record, Zack Graves has the current longest streak at 5 weeks.

Can I just say the only reason they Buckeyes are #1 is because all the other teams ahead of them lost? And the only reason the Buckeyes haven't lost yet is that they play in the stinkin' Big Ten and haven't played anybody. Well, except now, with Penn State, who hasn't played anybody either, but they did beat Michigan.

The Cal Fightin' Tedfords continue their slide, losing this week to a bipolar UCLA, while Dennis Erickson's Devils team makes it all the way to... four? One of the few unbeatens left, playing at home.

The Week That Was
It took him five seasons to get going, but once Jason Duren got going, he's on it. Duren picks up his 2nd week in a month, going 6-2, as the season starts to look a little more sensible, and the contenders have begun seperating themselves.

Not content with finishing 4th for a third straight week, Jason Barnette moves up to 2nd for the week, tying with DMOsborne, both at 6-2, while Trey Cartledge continues his season rise, finishing 4th at 6-2.

In 5th, at 5-3, is Scott Latta, tying for 6th is Matt Halpert and Gary "The Idol" Eubanks, both at 5-3, in 8th is Tyler Campbell, 9th is Joey Thornell and 10th is Mackey, all at 5-3.

• Who's never seen the top twelve? Aside from the several who only had one unsuccessful season in the DFC, those active participants who've never seen the DFC Power Poll Top 12 include Ken Mackey (highest ranking: 19, this season), James Hawbaker (highest ranking: 15, this week)
• Longest drought? Jason Demastus, who ranked in 6th in the very first DFC Power Poll in DFC IV's Week 2... and hasn't been back since. In fact, D-Mas has only managed to get to 14 that same season, to 16th in DFC VI, and has only reached 22nd in the past two seasons. He is our Arizona Cardinals.
• As far as streaks go, the longest active Power Poll streak belongs to Tad Roose, who's came in at 11th in Wk 4 of DFC VI, and has been in it ever since, totaling 28 weeks.
• Gary "The Idol" Eubanks entered the DFC last year, came in at #4 in week one, and has yet to leave the Power Poll, for 20 straight weeks.
• I'll try to add up some numbers and stats, and see about Top 5s and Top 10s over the next few weeks.
• Speaking of The Idol (that would be Eubanks), it only takes him 20 regular season weeks to get to 100 wins, and I'm sure that's pretty close to a record... one day I'll have to compare that to Gainey's and Big Eddy's total. Zack Graves is next with 98.
• With Drew's surge, and Big Eddy's continuing rebuilding, Drew ties Eddy's win total for a 10th place tie on the all time win list, and Drew actually bests Big Eddy McBroom by 14 when you factor in playoff wins.
• Yours Truly became the member of another 300 club... I've managed to join all the original DFC'ers, save Daniel and Jennifer, with 300 lifetime losses.

• Ah, its The DFC Power Poll... I finally went back and copied each season's Power Poll, from DFC IV to this year, stuck them side by side and looked it over. Remember, some of the stats you'll see will be unofficial, at least until I go back and "recreate" DFC I thru III to see the full picture.
• Also, in seasons IV, V & VI, The DFC Power Poll was a top 10, not a top 12, so I moved #11 and #12 up for those seasons, just for consistantcy... and in all this work, I'll give that info next week. So I can be thorough.
• Can you believe that only 5 weeks remain in the regular season? Suddenly, those 3-5 and 4-4 weeks are beginning to catch up, as is the horrid tiebreak average. The playoffs start at the end of November, and out of 51 to play the DFC game, 25 have made it to the postseason. Only 17 of those have made it more than once, not counting the 6 who made it for the first time last season.
• Longest active playoff streak? Mark Gainey. He's made it 5 straight years... as a matter of fact, he's never missed the post season. The next longest streak belongs to Yours Truly, who has been in 4 straight years... and both are on the fence as to whether we'll make it again.
• For Gainey, another appearance would give him not only 6 total, but 6 straight... and would equal both Drew Morris' and Jennifer Ernst's total, which if they gets in--and it looks like both will--will be 6 playoff appearances.
• Drew is #1 on the list for postseason wins, with a 63-28 record, including 2 straight DeuceBowl appearances. Second is Big Wookiee, at 55-24 and two championships, while 3rd belongs to 3 time champion Tad Roose, 51-21. Big Eddy McBroom has gone from 2nd to 4th in two seasons, as from DFC II to V making the playoffs each year, but has missed the postseason in both the past two years. In 5th is, you guessed it, Jennifer Ernst, at 48-24 (I'm in 6th with a 47-25 record). Jennifer is the highest ranking player on this list who's never been to the championship.
• Scott Latta appears 14th on the list, just behind Lori Smith and ahead of Michael Nipp, and is worth mentioning as he's the highest ranking player to only make the postseason one time--that would be because of his great run to DeuceBowl VI in his first playoff appearance.
• Daniel Powell and Mikey Nipp finally get that 400th win! Tad Roose is on the way (385) and Big Eddy (380) and Drew (379) are up next. This is, of course, regular season, so next up for 400 regular + postseason is Gainey, who is 13 away.
• Sarah Hasha is only 7 away from 300 all time, while Garrett Cheney is 11 from 200. Tyler Campbell is 16 from 200.
• For the 100 win mark, Gary made it this week if you toss in the postseason wins, but he's 3 away from regular season.
• Right now, Drew Morris sits atop the DFC Power Poll, not only his first time at #1, but the first time EVER in the top five... who knew? Anyway, his 35-21 record is matched by 6 others.
• To tell you what kind of season this is, Drew had the exact same record last year after Week 7, with a comparable TBA (10.0 now, 8.17 then), and he wasn't 1.. or 2... or 4... he was 8th.
• Last season at this time, Tad Roose already had 40 wins, en route to a 66 win, MVP & DeuceBowl championship season.
• All is not drastic, however... two seasons ago, DFC VI, the same 35-21 record would put you in a tie for 2nd... behind David Mark Osborne's #1, 38-18 record ranking.

The Week That Was
For the 2nd week in a row, we have a "first time" winner... James Hawbaker holds his hands up high, taking Week 6 of DFC VIII. Narrowly missing his 2nd win in a row, Jason Duren, at 7-1, comes in just behind Hawbaker for 2nd place.

"The Wife of the Dynasty" Gina Roose is on a tear as well, as she finishes at 6-2, good enough for 3rd, while Jason "Barney" Barnette and Scott Latta tie for 4th. In 6th is Tebe Shaw, and 7th is rookie Clif Render, both at 6-2. For 8th place, Lori Beirne gets a 6-2 record, while 5-3 was good enough for 9th and 10th, which were Gainey and Wasyluka.

Playoff Rules
Top two division winners, based on record, get automatic first round byes. Third division winner will get automatic first round bye if their record is third best, or within two games of the third best record in conference. Example, if Mark Gainey wins the East Division with a 55-41 record, and is third best in confernence, he is awarded automatic first round bye. If the 3rd best record belongs to Scott Latta, who didn't win the Mid Central Division, and Scott's record is 57-39, Mark gets it. If Scott's record is 58 wins or more, Scott is awarded the bye. This is to put a little more emphasis on division winners, without taking away seedings based on record.

Lies, Darn Lies & Statistics

• Well, its like a version of the Madden Cover jinx, or the SI Cover Jinx... I mention the success of someone, and they crash and burn. I mentioned Gina Roose's current streak, and it was broken. Last week, I mention Jon Osborne's success, and chance to at least get a piece of the "Longest at #1 Streak", and what happens? He takes a tumble to #5 in the DFC Power Poll.
• Using this rationale, I think I'll discuss how good Gainey is, and how he's been so dominating.
• Tad Roose ascends to the #1 spot for only the 2nd time. He's won three DFC Championships, yet this is only the 2nd time he's been at the Power Poll top spot. His other time was last year in DFC VII, when he spent the final half of the season at #1, en route to the DeRamus Plate.
• Looking at some all time win-loss records, there's alot of changes in the rankings... Tom Johnson leaps back into the regular season top ten, pushing Michael Nipp out, while at the same time, joining the 400 Regular Season Win club. Michael seems like he'll join next week, at 397.
• Lori Smith, ranked 17th all time, is about to pass Justin Glenn on the list for 16th place. Lori, with 315 wins, is well behind 15th place Scott Latta, with 358, who just got passed for 14th by Jon Osborne, who has 359.
• As for the 3rd year DFC participants, Gina Roose leaps over Tebe Shaw, 141 to 139, to take over 27th place all time, while Justin Fisher, Clif Render and Matt Halpert move past Ross Kingrey and Dawn "The Snapdragon" Langner for 45th, 46th and 47th place, respectively.
• Toss in the playoff wins and losses, and the numbers get even better... Tom again passes Michael for 10th all time, which is impressive, because Michael actually has had 24 playoff games lifetime, to Tom's 16.
• Big Wookiee is about to get passed again, this time by Sarah Hasha. Sarah, in 20th, has 287 games picked correctly, while 19th on the list Wookiee has 291 (which is not only 236 regular season wins, but an astonishing 55 playoff games correct--2nd most all time, only behind Drew Morris' 63).
• On to the college stats, Matt Latta sits at #3 all time, currently only 2 games behind Yours Truly for 2nd on the list. Yours Truly has been 2nd on the all time list and the college list for over two seasons now, and Matt is about to displace me if I keep it up. Or don't get it going.
• Scanning the weekly records chart (yes, I have one... you don't think I'm just making this up, do you?) you have to go waaaaay back to Season III in 2002 to find a season where someone didn't go almost the whole way through the season without a losing record. Justin Glenn lasted to week 10 before getting a 3-5 mark.
• This season? Through week 6, only Matt Halpert, Jason Duren, Gary Eubanks and Drew Morris remain unscathed by a 3-5 or worse.

But here they are, in the top ten for the first time since 1977... fitting, after a weekend where half the ranked teams lost and Jason Duren gets off the weekly win schneid, at 52 weeks in the league (thats right, he finally gets a win)

Somehow, the Red River Shootout lost a little luster since Oklahoma practically gift wrapped a W in a pretty bow, handing it to Colorado (they gave up 20 unanswered points!), and since Texas just... well, just stunk. Against Kansas State. Again.

#12 Georgia Bulldogs (4-1) at Tennessee Volunteers (2-2), 230p, CBS
I would not have picked this game for this weekend, except Tennessee's at home. Not that that means much anymore, since this is the SEC, but then again... this IS the SEC. Cause, Tennessee can't beat the #12th ranked Dawgs, much like Auburn couldn't possibly...

#16 Virginia Tech Hokies (4-1) at #22 Clemson Tigers (4-1), 5p, ESPN
Sigh. One of the announcer guys said it best this weekend, when discussing Clemson's loss to an inferior Georgia Tech team. If Clemson is ever going to be taken seriously as a national contender, like their fans so eagerly want, then they are going to have to start winning the games they are supposed to win.

What kind of world are we living in where South Florida, Cincinnati and UConn are the undefeated teams in a BCS Conference like the Big East?

The big pick on this will be LSU... I'm guessing 90% of the DFC will go that way, though I'm totally yelling Geaux Gators. Yes, its at night, yes its in Death Valley, and yes, its against the newly crowned #1 team in the land, but Florida lost, they will lick their wounds and take care of an LSU team that's not as good as people think. Heck, did you hear Tim Tebow doesn't wear a helmet for protection? No, Tim Tebow's helmet wears Tim Tebow for protection.

#4 Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0) at #23 Purdue Boilermakers (5-0)
Its been a while since we picked a Purdue game... its really been a while since we had a reason to. Remember, Ohio State is really only #4 because everyone else lost and they had nowhere else to go but up.

The Week That Was
I mentioned it last week, about Jason Duren's drought, having not winning a week in his career... well, he did it this week. He takes home his first win at 5-3, a tough win. This is what you call "winning ugly"

Rookie Clif Render, my frat brother from Troy U (who also won this weekend, thanks), takes 2nd place, while Zack Graves comes rolling into 3rd, also at 5-3. Tom Johnson gets 4th, and Justin Fisher gets 5th, both at 5-3, while at 4-4 is Drew Morris in 6th, Matt Halpert in 7th, James Hawbaker in 8th, Tyler Campbell in 9th, and rounding out the Top Ten is Tebe Shaw.

Lies, Darn Lies & Statistics

• Tad Roose holds the record of consecutive weeks at 4-4 or better, which L,DL&S has often talked about, mostly because its so impressive. How impressive? Consider that the longest active streak was at 18, held by Tad's better half, Gina. She was working on 19 weeks when this past weekend happened. Her 3-5 weekly record snapped that streak at 18, giving the newest longest active streak to Gary "The Idol" Eubanks, who has 17.
• Incidentally, Mark Gainey is 2nd on this list (DFC III to V), with 35 weeks, Justin Glenn is 3rd with 21 (DFC IV to VI), while Tommy McLeod is still 4th all time with 19 weeks (DFC I to II). Gina had moved her way up to 5th tied with DMOsborne with 18 straight (and as we mentioned, Gina's streak has been stopped). Gary can tie Gina & DMO this week, tie Tommy the following week, and own 4th all time the following, with 3rd all time on his radar.
• For Gary to break Tad's record, he'll have to stay 4-4 or better from this coming week until Week Ten... of DFC X. That's season 10 for you in Knoxville. In 2009. That's provide he doesn't pull a Barry Sanders and retire at the top of his game.
• One more Eubanks thought... he does own one record, that being number of weeks in the DFC before his first losing record. DFC Powers like Drew Morris had his first in Week 5 of his rookie year, Tad Roose went 3-5 in Week 6 of his rookie season, Eddy Mc went 2-6 in Week 7, even Mark Gainey went 2-6 early in his rookie season. Gary? He's never been below 4-4 his entire rookie year, and the first five weeks of this season, making 17 weeks. This is something I've never actually looked at before, and it looks like 2nd place all time on this list belongs to none other than Jason Turnbow, who went ten weeks during his rookie season last year before going 2-6 in Week 11. Of course, that's no solace to Turnbow's horrible start so far this year.
• What about 5-3 or better? An even more impressive record... The Mighty Mark Gainey still holds that record at 14 weeks. As much as I liken the 4-4 or better record to DiMaggio's streak (its just so impossible), I see 5-3 or better like Ripken's streak. Delivering week in and week out. In 2nd place all time? Big Eddy Mac with 12 weeks (DFC III, Wk 5 to DFC IV, Wk 3) and in 3rd, Yours Truly (DFC VI Wk 7 to DFC VII Wk 4). The current longest streak? Zack Graves. Three weeks.
• Jason Duren did in fact win the week this time, at 5-3. Just an example of how tough this season has been thusfar. Only two others have done it, that being Yours Truly (DFC VII, Week 7) and Big Wookiee, way back when (DFC I, Wk 9).
• The 400 regular season win club just added one more member, as Jennifer Ernst (429), Yours Truly (414), Matt Latta (407) and Tommy McLeod (403) welcomes David Mark Osborne, who, when Seattle beat San Francisco, collected his 400th win. Next up? Tom Johnson at 396, Michael Nipp at 393, and Daniel Powell at 389.
• Big Tim Wasyluka gets his 300th win this weekend, while Garrett is beating Tyler to 200 currently at 179 vs. 175.
• Last year's rookies gain on 100, as Gary "The Idol" Eubanks leads the race with 86 total, and Zack Graves is at 83.
• Joey Thornell, joining late, is no longer in last place on the all time win list. With 13 wins now, he passes Willis Watkins with 12, though Joey has one more loss than Willis, so in baseball stats, they are technically tied overall.
• What about 500? It almost seems like an unthinkable amount of wins... though Jennifer Ernst is 23 away, while Yours Truly is 39 away. More on this one as the number draws nearer.
• In college wins, Eddy Jr is 5 away from 200, Lori is 6 away, and in pro wins, Jason Duren is 4 from 100, and Ty Coffey is 7 from 100.
• Though you'll be getting the mid-season report, and the annual mid-season grades following next week's results, here's who's leading the other catagories not named "Champion", "MVP" or "Rookie of the Year"....
• Jon Osborne, Zack Graves and Tad Roose (who is the defending College Title Champion) all lead the college title race at 17-7, while Michael Nipp, Jason Duren and Clif Render lead the pro race at 11-5. The Pro Title Champion is Matt Latta, who is 9-7, tied with 8 others. The TieBreak Average title leader is Drew Morris, who holds an impressive 5.25, ahead of even Joey Thornell (5.8) who came in late. Big Eddy, who won the TB Title last season at 9.09, is 5th, behind Drew, Lori, Halpert and Joey.
• The DFC Power Poll came into play in DFC IV, and since then, there have only been 18 people to be perched at the #1 spot in 53 possible weeks (counting this past week). Out of those 18, only 9 of those have been at #1 for at least two weeks in a row. Strangely enough, Gary "The Idol" Eubanks is the only DFC'er in the history of the DFC Power Poll to be at #1 for two non consecutive weeks in the same season (Wks 3 and 6 last year).
• The unofficial record for number of consecutive weeks is currently held by two people, Tad Roose and David Mark Osborne, both staying atop the standings for 6 straight weeks. In second is Mark Gainey, and now Jon Osborne, both with 5. Jonathan Osborne is one week away from a piece of the #1 spot in the record, and two weeks away from being at #1 the longest. Mark Gainey actually holds the record of number of total weeks spent at #1, with 7, while Jonathan is 2nd with 6. So these next two weeks are pretty important, record wise, for Osborne. And he's still never made the playoffs.
