AWARDS SEASON
Time to hand out some trophies...
- First up, David Mark Osborne gets his first North Division title since DFC II -- incidentally he ends up with a 60-36 record on both.
- Tommy McLeod takes home the MidCentral Division crown, ending Brad Latta's streak of five straight division titles
- Drew Morris wins his 2nd West Division title in a row, and 7th overall.
- Yours Truly finally gets the East Division again, my 4th careerwise, but first since DFC XI
- Justin Dearing has a monumental season, snagging his first ever division crown, the South Central Division, with an impressive 69 wins.
- Incidentally, the reason there are two divisions with odd names like "South Central" and "MidCentral" is because when we went from four to six divisions in DFC V, we couldn't have two "Centrals". Thus, a "Mid" and a "South". It works.
- Finally, Tad Roose wins only his 3rd division title lifetime, and his second in a row in the South. His first division title was in the SouthCentral back in DFC VII.
- The College Title is a trophy given to the one with the best college record of the season -- Justin Dearing gets his 2nd straight College title with a league leading 46 wins.
- Tommy McLeod also gets two more trophies this season -- first up, the NFL Title. His 24 wins were tied with Justin Dearing and Bill Seybolt, but via TieBreak of the TieBreak, he wins the cup.
- Finally, Tommy also becomes the 9th DFC'er to win the TieBreak Award with a TB under 10 pts. His 8.56 is the 8th best to win the TB title in the 20 years of the DFC
THE MVP
And that leaves one big award -- the MVP. Typically it goes to the DFC'er with the best record, and with 69 wins, Justin Dearing gets the Sarah Hasha MVP Trophy to sit on his mantle.
LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS
- A few more random stats, starting with this... this season's opening round had the absolute worst performances of a Wild Card Round ever. The average win amongst the 10 was only 3.3 wins, with only Hurricane Rhett, Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers, and Atlanta Bill Seybolt getting 4 games -- with the first two advancing.
- Mark Gainey sits atop the all time playoff win list with 164, while Big Eddy is in 2nd at 150. A big win in the Final Four and a good DeuceBowl XX showing would get him that top spot... but he'll need to at least advance to kick The Mighty Gainey off of that perch.
- Tad "The Dynasty" Roose sits at 90 playoff wins, with a chance at being only the 5th person to get to 100, following Gainey, Big Eddy, Drew // Morris, Yours Truly, and Matt "The Mad Scientist" Halpert.
TWENTY SEASONS of the DFC... 15 champions.
- Will Tad "The Dynasty" Roose prove once and for all that he's the GOAT by winning his 4th DFC Championship?
- Will Justin "The Rook" Dearing fulfill his early potential and finish off one of the greatest seasons of all time by winning it all?
- Can Hurricane Rhett Barnett quietly put his claim as one of the greatest by getting a 2nd title in 5 years?
- Big Eddy McBroom, perhaps the greatest to never win a title, the perpetual Buffalo Bills or Susan Lucci of the DFC... can he finally take the championship home, after going 0-3 in previous DeuceBowls?
