DFC XXIII Week Ten GAMES

Okay folks... this is it. The last week of the regular season, the 264th week of DFC regular season play. While everyone (except for Mitch "Pinky the Youngest" Pinky and Young G Cheney) is still alive, some of you are all but mathematically eliminated. However, many of you are in the thick of it. And some of you (us?) would need a catastrophic collapse to miss the postseason... but we've seen collapses in Week 10 before.

The main rule -- ALL game must be in by kickoff on Saturday (you can submit your Friday game and the rest Saturday if you choose).

And once you submit this time, NO changes are allowed.

Finally - the polls reflect current AP rankings. Will change when the new (and first) playoff ranks are released on Tuesday night.

We go 8 College, 2 NFL to round up the year...

Good luck. We are all counting on you.

DFC XXIII Week Nine GAMES

Okay, so I will admit to you - many of these games are terrible. If you know anything about how the games are chosen, you can guess that some of the bigger games would be gimmes (like ranked Ohio St v Penn St, where everyone would pick OSU), so I tried to get games that would give at least a little parity.

So... here are six college games that are all over the map.  And yes, some of them are terrible.

COLLEGE GAMES

Notre Dame Fightin' Irish (4-3) at 16. Syracuse Fightin' Oranges (6-1)
11a, ABC

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-4) at Florida State Seminoles (4-3)
11a, ACC Network

Miami Hurricanes (3-4) at Virginia Cavaliers (3-4)
1130a, ESPN3

Arkansas Pig Sooey (4-3) at Auburn War Eagles (3-4)
11a, SEC Network

9. Oklahoma State Cowboys (6-1) at 22. Kansas State Wildcats (5-2)
230p, FOX

Baylor Bears (4-3) at Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-3)
630p, ESPN2

NFL GAMES

Carolina Panthers (2-5) at Atlanta Falcons (3-4)
12p, FOX

Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) at New Orleans Saints (2-5)
12p, CBS

San Francisco 49ers (3-4) at LA Rams (3-3)
325p, FOX

Washington Commandos (3-4) at Indianapolis Colts (3-3-1)
325p, FOX

TIEBREAK
Sure, everyone will probably pick Arky to beat Aubie... but it'll make for a good TB Game.
Arkansas v Auburn, total points scored.

DFC XXIII Week Seven RESULTS

THE SCORES
(5) Michigan 41, (10) Penn State 17
(24) Illinois 26, Minnesota 14
(6) Tennessee 52, (3) Alabama 49 - total points 101
(13) TCU 43, (8) Oklahoma State 40
LSU 45, Florida 35
Oregon State 24, Washington State 10
New England Patriots 38, Cleveland Browns 15
Seattle Seahawks 19, Arizona Cardinals 9
Buffalo Bills 24, Kansas City Chiefs 20
Philadelphia Eagles 26, Dallas Cowboys 17

THE WEEK THAT WAS
If my math is right, looks like the DFC has just hit 251 weeks of regular season play (one season at 11 weeks, 12 seasons at 12 weeks, 8 seasons at 10 weeks, one season of 9 weeks, and now 7 weeks into this year), and in that time, only 11 people have gone back to back in a season -- and after the look-at-him-go paragraph last week, David "What Tha" Tuck capitalizes on the momentum and takes himself another week as well.

And good on him, as this was an insanely tough week -- not only did win the week at 7-3, he did it via TB, only *only* being 25 points off. Congrats to Tuck as he hitting a stride right as the playoff push has truly begun.

Tad "The Dynasty" Roose having a stellar year as well, taking second, while Jacob "Pinky the Pinky" Pinkerton gets third and... unless he just blows it... looking like he might slide into the postseason for his first playoff appearance.

That puts Yours Truly in 4th, with Brad "The Bald One" Ashby right behind me in 5th, and Mitchell "Pinky the Youngest" Pinky in 6th.  That ends the 7-3 records, as the rest of the Top 10 finishes at 6-4, with Jacob Roth from Wyoming in 7th, and in a rare feat of synchronicity, the two McBrooms - Elder and Younger - tie for 8th.  Brad "Lawdawg" Latta and Matty "Pinky the Eldest" Pinky tie for 10th.

Also finishing
6-4: James "The Pick Maker" Hawbaker... Lil Stevie Ray... Jonny Oz... Tyler "TSPSBotDFC" Campbell... Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod... Trey "The Answer" Cartledge...

5-5: Mark "The Mighty" Gainey... Wookiee Fulaytar... gRandy Latta... Zack "The Attack" Graves... Drew // Morris... Daniel "3D" Powell... Jenny Ernst... Mikey "High" Nipp

4-6: Young Garrett... Hurricane Rhett... Chris "YO TEACH" Croyle... DMO... Big Tom Johnson... Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers... Aussie Nate Johnston... Bradley "Pinky the Wisest" Pinky...

3-7: The Big Wasyluka... Drew "Grassman" Warren... Garrison "The Pride of Norcross" Ryfun...

Note: Despite Aussie Nate having a better TBA than Zack with the same record, Zack would get the advantage by winning his division, leaving Aussie Nate on the outside of the postseason.

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS
(The "Top 12" Edition)
  • Shout-out to Drew "Slash" Morris who stayed atop the rankings for five straight weeks
  • Shout-out to Tad Roose, who returned to the #1 spot after a long, long absence -- he is a three time DFC champ, after all
  • Shout-out to Drew "Slash" Morris again, and Steven Ray, and James Hawbaker, the only three who have been a part of the Top 12 the entire season
  • Mini-shout-out to Daniel Powell, Dan Sellers, and self high five to Yours Truly who have only had one single week outside the Top 12
  • Not-Shout-Out to those who have yet to be a part of the Top 12 at any point this season... including Eddy Jr... DMO... Jenny Ernst... Randy Latta... The Wookiee... Jonathan Osborne.... Garrison Ryfun... Chris Croyle...
  • And final Not Shout Out to those who have not seen north of #20 this season: Mikey Nipp... Roth from Wyoming... Brad Ashby... Tim Wasyluka... Mitchell Pinky... Young Garrett (who's highest rank has been 34th, in an exercise in total futility)
  • But with 29 wins, all is not lost for Young Garrett - his worst is 42 wins in 2020, so he has three weeks to win 13 games. Its doable.
