THE WEEK THAT WAS
This is super important because playoff games go out tomorrow afternoon... so now is your chance to correct me and let me know if I missed something!

Okay... this is the part of the show where you're just going to have to trust me...

I went 8-2, won the week, and clinched a high seed in the postseason.  We all know if I was cooking the books, I'd have won a title a long time ago LOL. Don't worry, I'm fully prepared to flame out in the playoffs, Dallas Cowboys style.

Coming in 2nd, and having what can only be defined as a "Career Year" -- always convenient when he's up for contract renegotiations... Drew "Grassman" Warren goes 7-3, as does Trey "The Answer" Cartledge for 3rd, and tied for 4th, Tad "The Dynasty" Roose and James "Not the Playoff Maker" Hawbaker.

Finisbing up his 2nd year in the DFC and clinching the Hasha MVP Trophy, Roth from Wyoming takes 6th in 7-3, and DMO and Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod tie for 7th at 6-4. Hurricane Rhett blows in to the postseason like a hurr... you get it -- he's 6-4 in 9th and tying for 10th, Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinkerton and Big Tom Johnson, at 6-4

Also Finishing:
6-4: Defending DFC Champ Zack "The Attack" Graves... Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers... Coach DiBello... Jonathan "Ozzy" Osborne

5-5: Jacob "Pinky the Pinky" Pinkerton... Garrison "Pride of Savannah" Ryfun... Steven "The Principal" Ray... The Eddys, both big and little... Drew // Morris... Mark "The Mighty" Gainey... Tyler "The Self Proclaimed Sexy Beast of the DFC" Campbell... Young Garrett

4-6: Mitchell "Pinky the Younger" Pinky... Jenny Ernst... Aussie Nate... Danny "The Engineer" Powell.. Mikey Nipp... Matty Mink... Chris "YO TEACH" Croyle... David "I Didnt Make the Playoffs? Who Gives A" Tuck.. Melissa "The Chef" Reagan

THE WEEK THAT WAS

It's been a hot minute since long time DFC'er (and two time champion) Drew Morris won a week in the DFC - not since 2019's DFC XX Week 2 - but he takes home his 13th weekly win of his career, and a great time for it to happen... and undefeated as well.

And while I'm honesty not sure what the record is, I do know that SIX undefeated records in the same week has to be a record.  Based on TB, Drew takes the top spot, while Matty "Pinky the Elder" Pinky is in 2nd, Mark "The Mighty" Gainey in 3rd, Hurricane Rhett in 4th, Tommy "There Can Only Be One... Unless There is Six" McLeod in 5th, and DMO in 6th... at at 8-0

Lt. Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers stumbles across the finish line at 7-1, good enough for 7th, same as 8th place Garrison "Pride of Augusta" Ryfun, The Big Wasyluka in 9th, and in a 3 way tie for 10th, all at 7-1, Zack "The Attack" Graves, Yours Truly, and Danny "The Engineer" Powell.

Also Finishing:
7-1: Drew "The Grassman" Warren... Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky... David "I Don't Give A" Tuck...

6-2: Steven "The Principal" Ray... Mitchy "Pinky the Younger" Pinky... Both Eddy McBs... Tad "The Dynasy" Roose... Trey "The Answer" Cartledge... Aussie Nate Johnston... James "Unsure of the Playoff Maker" Hawbaker... Coach DiBello... Mikey "The Media Collector" Nipp... Jacob "Pinky the Pinky" Pinky... Chris "YO TEACH" Croyle... Tyler "TSDSBotDFC" Campbell... Jonny "Oz" Osborne... Young Garrett Cheney

5-3: Jenny "The Sunshine" Ernst... Melissa "The Chef" Reagan... (Jacob) Roth from Wyoming... Big Tom Johnson

LIES, DARN LIES, AND STATISTICS
Just a quick round this time

  • The playoffs do begin next week, with the Top 12 overall, division winners getting higher seeds in tied records.
  • Drew Morris, a 2 time DFC Champ (VIII and XXII), and is on the verge of padding a record he already owns - he's headed toward his 19th playoff appearance out of 23 seasons.  His 179 playoff wins is also #1 on the list, and while only 4 ahead of Eddy McBroom (175) and 7 from Mark Gainey's 172. Considering Big Eddy is likely to miss the playoffs this year, that only leaves Mark with a chance to have a strong showing to catch Drew.
  • Next on the "Make the Playoff List" is Tommy McLeod, with 16 appearances, and Yours Truly and Mark Gainey with 15 each.
  • Looks like, however, we are about to have a few first timers in the postseason - with Roth from Wyoming, Aussie Nate, and in his 14th year, I believe this will be the first playoff appearance by one Drew "The Grassman" Warren (that's landscaping, not weed, by the way)
  • By the way, Drew Warren has already had his best record so far, with a week to go, and is likely to hit 60 wins for the first time in his career.
  • Also notable that Dan Sellers, aka Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers (who I'm pretty sure is not in the military and has both of his legs just fine...) has won 61 in two previous seasons (DFC XII and XVI) before over his 15 season career, and with 56 right now, a good week this weekend puts him over that
  • Also, I've never actually met Dan. He's the last guy from an old guard in the DFC, I'm not actually sure who he connected with, and he got in before I implemented the rule "I must actually know who you are before you join MY game".  Thankfully, he keeps coming back.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
He's a DFC Original, but that doesn't necessarily translate into success overall... Big Tom Johnson hasn't made the playoffs since DFC XI, in 2010, and only has five weekly wins to his name, the last coming in Week 4 of DFC XXI in 2020.  And this season wasn't a great start either... but he's managed to come on strong as of late, and although he's likely going to miss the postseason again, Big Tom rolls with a 9-1 record this week, a week that proved to be very hard for lots of people.

Trying to solidify his bid for the Hasha MVP Trophy, Roth from Wyoming goes 8-2 for 2nd this week, while spots 3 thru 8 in the Top 10 finish up with 7-3 records...

That being Daniel "The Engineer" Powell in 3rd, DMOsborne in 4th, Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers taking 5th, Drew "the Grassman" Warren in 6th, Tyler "The Self Proclaimed Sexy Beast of the DFC" Campbell in 7th, Mitchy "Pinky the Younger" Pinky in 8th.

With 6-4, Garrison "The Pride of Tallulah Falls" Ryfun gets 9th, and rounding out the top 10, it's Mark "The Mighty" Gainey at 6-4.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
The only other time I can remember going undefeated, I still finished 2nd to someone who also went undefeated (maybe... DMOsborne? maybe Mark Gainey?) and had a better TB.  This week?  NOPE!  Yours Truly takes the weekly win with a 10-0 mark! (does D-Generation X Crotch Chop)

No rest for the weary though, as the playoffs are just around the corner... and pushing towards the postseason is Hurricane Rhett, who finished 9-1 for 2nd place, while The Big Wasyluka takes 3rd at 8-2.

Steven "The Principal" Ray is 4th, Roth from Wyoming is 5th, and soaring to the midcard, Mikey "The Oregonian" Nipp, 6th, all at 8-2.

Tied for 7th, Drew // Morris and Tad "The Dynasty" Roose at 7-3, and finishing up the top 10 is a 3-way tie for 9th, Drew "Grassman" Warren, Aussie Nate Johnston, and Matty "Pinky the Elder" Pinky, at 7-3.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Big props to Jacob "Roth from Wyoming", who, in his 2nd season, finally gets his first weekly win of his career, pulling in a season-changing 9-1 week.  This was definitely a week where a great week really helped, and a poor week really hurt you overall... because finally having a solid week, The Coca-Cola Cowboy of the DFC, rookie Matt Mink, snags 2nd place for the week at 8-2.

James "The Prediction Maker" Hawbaker takes 3rd at 7-3, while Hurricane Rhett gets 4th, also at 7-3.

The rest of the weekly top 10 finishes at 6-4, with Garrison "The Pride of Blackshear" Ryfun and DMO tie for 5th, Young Garrett gets 7th, Tad "The Dynasty" Roose in 8th, and Tommy "The Highlander: There Can Only Be One" McLeod and Trey "The Answer" Cartledge tie for 10th.

THE STANDINGS
The TieBreak Average (TBA) is now a part of the standings. Your TB score from week to week is how far apart your TB guesses are from the actual total number of points scored in the selected game. Those numbers are added and divided by weeks of season - beginning in Week 5, your worst TB performance is dropped. If you have an even worse TB score in the coming weeks, that one will be dropped and the previous sucky week's number will be added back in. The only instance in which the worst TB number will be added back in will be to break a season-ending tie for divisional championship or playoff seeding. All further questions can be directed to DFC Admin.

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS

  • First, let's talk streaks... .500 or better.  Drew Morris is still going, with 23 weeks of .500 or better - in fact, he hasn't had a losing week since Week 2 of DFC XXII (Sept 2021), a season in which he went on to take his 2nd DFC Championship.
  • Both Steven "The Principal" Ray's and Mark "The Mighty" Gainey's streak just hit 20, with both gents last having losing weeks in Week 5 of DFC XXII
  • Yours Truly just passed 15 weeks, while Zack "The Attack" Graves just hit 13 weeks at .500 or better
  • Looking at .501 or better (a winning week) streak, Matty "Pinky the Elder" Pinky is currently at 7 weeks, while both Steven Ray and Zack Graves have started their season each week over .500, so they are at 5 weeks
  • Another interesting stat I looked at for this segment was Top 25 All Time (regular season and playoffs)... while only one retired DFC'er remains in the All Time Top 20 - DFC X Champion Lori "Sunshine" Beirne at 15th all time -  there are still four retired DFC'ers in the Top 25: Matt Latta (22nd), Brad "Lawdawg" Latta (23rd), and Matt "The Mad Scientist" Halpert (24th).
  • I mention this because Hurricane Rhett just leaped over Scotty Latta for 25th all time.  While Rhett needs only 17 more wins this year to leap both Brad and Halpert, he's only at 863 all time wins, while Matt has 904.  So it would be tough to get there this year, but he'll undoubtedly will do it.
  • With Rhett likely to get 24th in the coming weeks, that means the threshold for being in the Top 25 All Time will be Matt Halpert's 876 wins -- next closest is Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers, currently at 822 wins, and Chris "YO TEACH" Croyle, who just got to 800 all time wins.
  • As far as the Top 20 All Time, Young Garrett Cheney sits at 20th with 963. In 21st is Steven "The Principal" Ray with 950, but what's remarkable about that is Garrett's rookie season was DFC V... and Steven's was DFC X, a full five seasons later.
  • James "The Prediction Maker" Hawbaker is 16th all time, with 1114 wins, so catching Lori Beirne's 1152 win record might be tougher this year, but if he returns for DFC25, he'll easily do it.
  • That's all. Kbye.

DFC XXIV Week Four RESULTS

Because of time, I'm going to list the results for everyone's week, without the standings and top 12 rankings, which will come back next week.

Also - I'll try to send a reminder, but if you didn't send in your picks, go right ahead and do so =)

WHO WON THE WEEK??

Congrats to Coach DiBillo, one of the first rookies to win in a while, and also blowing through with a 10-0 record -- if you count the end of last week, he's on a 13 game win streak.  I actually don't have records on consecutive games, but I do know Wookiee Fulaytar holds the record at 19 straight games (en route to a championship in DFC V)

Coming in 2nd place, Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers at 9-1, while 3rd goes to Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod at 8-2.  Mitchell "Pinky the Younger" Pinky is 8-2 and gets 4th, Drew "Grassman" Warren is 8-2 in 5th, and Mark "The Mighty" Gainey is 6th at 8-2.

And 7th is Drew // Morris and tied for 8th is Jacob "From Wyoming" Roth and Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky, all at 8-2, with Jonny "Oz" Osborne at 7-3 coming in 10th.

Also finishing:
7-3 - Aussie Nate... Young Garrett... Yours Truly... Matty "Pinky the Eldest" Pinky... James "The Prediction Maker" Hawbaker... The Big Wasyluka... Steven "The Principal" Ray... Jacob "Pinky the Pinky" Pinky...

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Dunno how the end of the season will go for Matthew "Pinky the Elder" Pinky (there are four Pinkertons in our league, and Matthew just happens to be the oldest), but he is storming out of the gate early in what has been a rough two weeks for a lot of the league. Either way, Matty picks up his 5th career weekly win, getting 8-2 this week.

Coming in 2nd, Trey "The Answer" Cartledge also is 8-2, and in 3rd for the week, Zack "The Attack" Graves, at 7-3.

Jonathan "Oz" Osborne gets the only 7-3 record this week, taking 4th, and Coach DiBello gets 5th at 6-4.

The rest of the Top 10 all go 6-4, with Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky and Tad "The Dynasty" Roose tied for 6th, Matt "Coca-Cola Cowboy" Mink and Danny Powell tie for 8th, and finally, Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers rounds out the 10.

LIES, DARN LIES, & STATISTICS
"There are three types of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics" - Mark Twain, probably

  • And here comes the part of the show where I throw a bunch of historical numbers at you -- all of them are true, based on 24 years of DFC stats
  • Let's start with the update on All Time Win records... Your top ten regular season wins.. I'm proud to say that Yours Truly (1347) takes the top spot, followed by Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod (1307) in 2nd place, and Drew // Morris (1298) in third.  Jennifer Ernst (1296) is in fourth (surpassed by Drew just this very week), while Big Eddy McB (1290) is close behind in 5th.  In sixth place, Jonathan Osborne (1271), while two time champ Mark "The Mighty" Gainey (1265) is close in 7th place.  In eighth is DMOsborne (1252), and crazily enough, there is a tie for ninth with Tad "The Dynasty" Roose and Lil Eddy McB Jr, both at 1229 wins all time.
  • Now, lets add in the playoff wins to give an actual "ALL TIME WINS EVER" Top ten... It is similar to the regular season wins, again with Yours Truly (1498) on top -- doesn't mean I'm great, just consistently slightly above average -- and Drew // Morris (1477) in 2nd, and Big Eddy McB (1465) in 3rd. Mark "The Mighty" Gainey (1437) is in 4th, while Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod has just crossed the 1400 mark and is at 1406.  In 6th, Jenni Ernst (1392) and in 7th, Tad "The Dynasty" Roose (1348), and 8th, Jonny Oz (1345). Rounding out the Top Ten, DMOsborne (1307) and Lil Eddy Jr (1279)
  • Milestones! Going back to All Time Regular Season Wins, James "The Prediction Maker" Hawbaker sits at 994 wins, so with mathing, a good week this week puts him at 1000 lifetime
  • Tyler "The Self Proclaimed Sexy Beast of the DFC" Campbell -- which by the way, was an actual proclamation made by said Tyler -- is up next with 950 wins, though it might next season, and it will certainly be next year for Sorta Young Garrett Cheney, with 944 wins, and Trey "The Answer" Cartledge at 938
  • Hurricane Rhett Barnett is getting close to 800, with 781 wins all time, and Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky is close to 700, with 694 wins lifetime, while Mitchell "Pinky the Younger" Pinky is at 478, a few weeks from 500
  • Congrats to David Tuck for getting over the 200 wins mark!
  • And now we get to one of my fave records -- I call it the "DiMaggio Streak" -- which is consecutive weeks of .500 or better. The record is held by the aforementioned Tad Roose, who early in his career reeled off 45 streak weeks. Your current streaks are held by Drew Morris (19 weeks)... Steven Ray (16 weeks)... Mark Gainey (15 weeks)...
  • And then there is the +.500 streak... meaning consecutive weeks above .500, which is much harder.  That record is held by DFC Hall of Famer Matt "The Great Bear of the North" Latta, who pulled off 15 straight weeks.  It's an incredibly hard record to break - James Hawbaker has the biggest streak as of now, only at 8 weeks.
