THE WEEK THAT WAS
Last season, DFC XV, was the first time in DFC history that there wasn't anyone who won multiple weeks in the season.  And for now, that's an anomaly, as Jonathan Osborne has won his 2nd week of the year, going 7-1.

There was a 4 way tie for 2nd place, with Brad Latta, Mark Gainey, Lori Beirne and Matt Pinkerton all getting a 6-2 record.  Another tie, this time for 6th, goes to Tommy McLeod and Tad Roose, while Eddy McBroom Jr gets 8th at 5-3.  Still another tie, this time to round out the Top 10, for 9th place goes to Justin Glenn and Bronson Kilgore, both at 5-3.

Also Finishing:
5-3: Jeni Ernst... Mitch Pinkerton... Grandy Latta... The Big Wasyluka... Big Eddy... Drew "Slash" Morris... Tom Johnson... Braddy Pinky... Matt "Scientist" Halpert... Trey "The Answer" Cartledge... Remodeling Clay Shaver... Hurricane Rhett Barnett... Lt Dan... Yours Truly... Rookie Mike Ferris...
4-4: Tyler "Sexy Beast" Campbell... Sarah Hasha... James "The Playoff Maker" Hawbaker... Defending DFC Champion Steven Ray... DMO... Mikey Nipp... Drew "The Grassman" Warren... Danny Powell... Zack "The Attack" Graves
3-5: The Croyle... Justin Harrison...
2-6: Brad Ashby... Young Garrett... Jacob Pinky... Marky Mark Warner

Out for the season... Mike Beirne has to step away for the season due to other obligations. He finishes at 39-29, which will go into his overall record.  Good luck Mike, and we'll see you in DFC XVII!

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS
  • The Streak, the .500 one has reached a feverous pitch.  Matt Halpert & Gary Eubanks have been tied for 2nd for a long time, now Rhett Barnett equals that, going 24 weeks with at least .500 or more.  His last losing week came in Week 4 of DFC XIV in 2013.
  • Yours Truly, however, is right behind Rhett, with the current 3rd longest streak of all time, at 23 weeks.  I hadn't actually noticed until just now... rock on.
  • Clay Shaver has the 3rd longest streak, currently at 18 weeks, which puts him tied with Gina Roose and Jonathan Osborne for the 7th longest streak of all time.  It's also important to note that the longest .500 streak to begin a career was Gary Eubanks at 24 weeks.  Clay is 7 weeks away from equaling that--he's in his second season and he's never had a losing record.
  • As far as the .500+ streak, Drew Morris has the lead, with 9 weeks.
  • Along with Matt Hapert, Drew Morris also has the current longest consecutive playoff streak, with 4 straight seasons--Drew is on track to get his 5th this year, while Matt may struggle to make it this year.
  • Mark Gainey has the longest career streak, making the postseason from DFC III to DFC X, 8 straight years.
  • Michael Nipp has the longest playoff drought, last making the postseason in DFC V in 2004, while DMOsborne made it in DFC VI in 2005.  Justin Glenn also last made the playoffs in DFC VI, but was missing for a few seasons in the middle.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Tad Roose garnered the nickname "The Dynasty" because he's the only three time DFC Champion, winning DFC II, IV and VII, as well as owning the monster streak of 45 weeks of .500 or up.  And he won DeuceBowl IV with a perfect 8-0 record... but times have been tough for Tad "The Dynasty" Roose, making the playoffs just twice in 7 seasons--and a remarkable 104 weeks with nary a weekly victory.. until this week.  Not saying Tad "The Dynasty" is back, but it's a start.  Tad wins it with an 8-2 record, edging out Bronson Kilgore, who has really come on strong lately, also finishing 8-2.

The week was tough on many, but Clay Shaver survived and took 3rd at 7-3, while Matt Pinkerton and The Big Wasyluka tied for 4th.  Lt Dan Sellers gets 6th and DMOsborne takes 7th, all at 7-3.

In 8th place, Jonathan Osborne goes 6-4, while Chris Croyle takes 9th, and tied for 10th place, Drew Morris, and Beirnes of both persuasions, Lori & Mike.

DFC XVI Week Seven

The 7th week of the DFC Season!  Sorry these didn't come in yesterday--I was too busy following the dozen major sports stories that all fell in 24 hours.

Just an quick update... I'm going to ask that all of your games be in by the first kickoff of the first game, because its not fair to adjust your decisions on Sunday according to how you did on Saturday.

Also... any and all pick changes are allowed up until the kickoff of the first game;  after that, we gotta lock down the picks.  If a quarterback is suddenly unavailable which changes the complexion of the entire game, I'll take a late pick.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Woo hoo!  Typically when I win a week, it's never a dominating performance like 10-0 or 9-1, its always something mediocre like 7-3, which is what happened this week.  My 12th career weekly win is a record, so chalk one up for Yours Truly in a week that devastated nearly everyone, especially in NFL.  Three DFC'ers when 0-4 in NFL, and a huge amount went 1-3.

Also surviving the carnage is Dan Sellers, who gets a 7-3 record for 2nd place, while Remodeling Clay Shaver gets 3rd, Brad Latta in 4th and Sarah Hasha, who by this time in a regular season is long out of it, but finds herself square in the middle of the playoff hunt, and gets 5th place, all with 7-3.

Rookie Michael Ferris goes 6-4 for 6th place, Tyler Campbell for 7th at 6-4, Drew Morris in 8th and tied for 9th, Jacob Pinky and Eddy Jr.

Also Finishing
6-4: Steven Ray... Randy Latta... Zack Graves.. Brad Ashby
5-5:  Jennie Ernst... Trey Cartledge... Mitchell Pinky... Matty Pinky... Danny Powell... Mark Gainey... Tommy Mac... The Hawbaker... Garrett Cheney.. Hurricane Rhett
4-6: Drew Warren... Mike Beirne... Tad Roose... Justin Glenn... Jonathan Osborne... Chris Croyle.. Justin Harrison... The Big Wasyluka... Matt Halpert... Big Eddy Mac... Tom Johnson
3-7: Lori Beirne... Mikey Nipp... Bronson Kilgore... Bradley Pinky...
2-8: DMOsborne... Marky Mark Warner

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS

  • The weekend was brutal... never in the 15 previous DFC Seasons have we had three people go winless in the NFL
  • The average TB guess from people, who many times will pick the same number over and over, is between 45 and 50, so when the total points scored in a game is 48, then there is a likelihood of having several people to get it exactly.  This time, SIX people--Drew Warren, Mike Ferris, Jennifer Ernst, Mike Beirne, Lori Beirne, Tad Roose--got it exactly right, more than any other weekend in DFC History
  • Watching the .500 streak, Rhett Barnett gets to 21 consecutive weeks, which ties him 5th all time with Justin Glenn
  • The list itself is Tad Roose (45 weeks), Matt Halpert & Gary "The Idol" Eubanks (24 weeks), Yours Truly (22) and now Rhett tied with Justin at 21.
  • Big Eddy McBroom's streak of 10 weeks at +.500 was broken this week, as the new longest streak goes to defending DFC Champion Steven Ray, who is at 8 weeks.
