DFC Week Six

Week Six of the DFC...

College Games
All times CST, all ranks from AP Poll

#5
Georgia Bulldogs (4-0) at #8 Tennessee Volunteers (3-1), 230p CBS
The Dawgs are kind of flying under the radar this season, and for good reason... they beat a very beatable Boise State team, whooped a La-Monroe team, edged a South Carolina team and two weeks ago, beat Miss St. This is their first big test of the season. Tennessee had their test with LSU, so you see how that turned out... though they did lost to Florida earlier this season.

#15 Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-0) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-0), 3p
Battle of the Unbeatens! Of course, TT is a good team... on paper. They've outscored their opponents 199-48... and they beat Fla Int'l, Sam Houston, Indiana St and Kansas. And with the resurgance of Penn State and Alabama, darn it, I just want the Huskers to be good... and after beating Iowa State this week, they might just be. Of course, I'm not drinking the Raider or Husker Kool-Aid yet... but keep it cold.

#10 California Bears (5-0) at #20 UCLA Bruins (4-0), 630p
A solid team all around, the Cal Bears are the one opponent for USC that a few--albeit very few--people are saying might upset the Trojans. They were the last to beat them, back in 2003. And hey, the Bruins are back! The other major LA college is rocking with their 4-0 mark so far.

#6 Ohio State Buckeyes (3-1) at Penn State Nittany Lions (5-0), 645p
Losing to Texas, the Buckeyes rebounded and beat the crap out of Iowa, and has now had two weeks to get ready for this game that suddenly looks big. Not a fan of the Buckeyes, but they might be the team to pick for a DFC win... unless you believe in Joe Pa's Lions. Still unsure how good they are, but know this... they whipped South Florida (the team that killed Louisville and held their own against Miami) and then this weekend destroyed Minnesota.

NFL Games
All times CST
New England Patriots (2-2) at Atlanta Falcons (3-1), 12p
San Diego smacked the Pats around handily on Sunday, while at the same time Atlanta was beating the Vikes (which most teams seem to do lately), and losing their quarterback to a knee injury. Don't think anyone expected New England to have as much trouble as they have had--but can the A-T-L do anything without Vick?

Tennessee Titans (1-3) at Houston Texans (0-3), 12p
Poor, poor Titans. It looks like a few years of rebuilding for Tennessee to come, with what probably will be the final year (or close to it) for Air McNair, while Houston is searching for their first win. Can it be true? Could David Carr NOT be the answer?

Washington Redskins (3-0) at Denver Broncos (3-1), 315p
Joe Gibbs is finally answering some "yer too old" critics with his undefeated Hogs, taking on a Mike Shanahan led Bronco team that are doing their best to answer the "you suck" critics. Of course, out of the Redskins three wins, they've won by a total of 6 points (including an OT win over Seattle on Sunday).

Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) at San Diego Chargers (2-2), Mon 8p
I don't like picking Monday night games, but this one was too good to pass up... a Steelers team that barely lost to New England, who got thumped by San Diego, who seemed like they really weren't that good to begin with. Oh, I dunno... pick 'em.

TB Game:
How's about... an offensive game that none of us have a clue about...
Texas Tech vs Nebraska, total # of points scored.
