LIES, DARN LIES, & STATISTICS

  • 1000 wins is a heck of a lot, especially when done in 8 and 10 game chunks at a time -- and so it's always a cause for mention when someone hits that target. Coming into this season, the 1000 Win Club included Yours Truly, Jenny Ernst, Tommy McLeod, Drew Morris, Eddy McBroom (all of the former have 1100+, the following are between 1K and 1100), Jonathan Osborne, Mark Gainey, DMO, Eddy Jr, and Tad Roose
  • Joining the 1000 win club in the last few weeks... Lori Beirne (1035)... Tom Johnson (1028)... Michael Nipp (1018)... and Daniel Powell (1014)
  • These are of course regular season wins -- throw in the playoffs and surprisingly, the group stays the same.
  • Next up?  Tim Wasyluka, at 907 wins regular season, and 950 all time
  • James Hawbaker just crossed over the 800 win mark, sitting at 807
  • Chris Croyle got his 600th win this week, sitting now at 604
  • Drew Warren crossed 500 (511)... Brad Ashby over 400 (409)... Bill Seybolt got to 200 (204)...
  • The most impressive streak in DFC History is nicknamed "The DiMaggio Streak", which is the total number of weeks with at least a .500 record or better. The Streak itself has been held for over a decade by three time DFC Champ Tad "The Dynasty" Roose at 42 straight weeks.  Yours Truly came close at 32 weeks a few seasons later, while five more made it to at least 20: Matt Halpert (24)... Gary "The Idol" Eubanks, retired (24)... Yours Truly (22)... retired Justin Glenn (21)... Lori Beirne (20)
  • On the cusp of 20 weeks, Daniel Powell, Tommy McLeod, and Trey Cartledge, all at 19 weeks... and joining that list is two time DFC Champ Mark Gainey, also at 19.
  • Then there is the +.500 record, that being consecutive weeks at above 500... the record there is a meager 17 weeks, held by Matt Latta, former DFC Champ and future DFC Hall of Famer.
  • The current leader in that category is Big Eddy McB at 9 weeks.
  • It's also about time to start looking at the playoffs and the numbers... and one interesting number is the most games picked without a playoff spot.  The record is held by our beloved Sarah Hasha, at 1536
  • This is worth mentioning because Young Garrett Cheney, at 1,498. Meaning if he doesn't make the postseason this year, he'll be at 1,536.  And if he picks Week One next year, by virtue of math, he'll own that record for his very own.
  • Also, high numbers on this list include Drew Warren, who will be at 960 at seasons end... Brad Ashby (768)... Jacob Pinkerton (672)
