THE WEEK THAT WAS

My greatest apologies... I have been hyping the fact that Matt Latta had not won a week in years and years... and lo and behold, I discover, or misremember, that he won just last season, in Week 11 of DFC XII.  I do apologize, Matta Latta... it was his 7th career weekly win, tying him with Jennifer Ernst for 3rd all time, and becomes the 6th DFC'er to begin a season at 8-0--and he's the only one to do it twice (won Week 1 of DFC VIII at 8-0).

The entire Weekly Top Ten was comprised of 7-1 records, with Lori Beirne and rookie Brad Ashby tying for 2nd, Mark "The Mighty" Gainey, John Wolf and Tommy McLeod tied for 4th, and Hurricane Rhett taking 8th all by his lonesome.

Eddy the Junior and Bradley Pinkerton tied for 8th, and Tad "The Dynasty" Roose rounded out the top ten.

Also finishing:

THE DFC POWER FIFTEEN
The 15 Best in the League... this week, it mirrors the Weekly Top Ten, and there are lots of ties due to the TBA only having one week.  We've expanded the Top 12 into the Top 15, due to the number of people we have.  Plus, it helps Yours Truly be ranked.  Rock on.

Mark Twain once said, "There are three kinds of lies in this world... they are:

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS

  • First things first... there are two streaks we keep an eye on from week to week... the first one is ".500 and up", which is who has the most consecutive weeks with a 4-4 record or better... essentially, who can go the longest without a losing record. The all time record is held by Tad "The Dynasty" Roose, who went what I consider to be an unbreakable 45 weeks between losing records, from Week 5 in DFC IV to Week 1 in DFC VIII... thats over FOUR full seasons. Second? The retired Gary "The Idol" Eubanks, with 24 weeks. As in, not even close.
  • The current streak is owned by Big Eddy McBroom, who, including this week, is at 19 weeks 4-4 and better, tying him for 6th all time with Daniel Powell, Tommy McLeod and Trey Cartledge.  Second on the current list is Randy Latta, who has managed to pull in 17 straight weeks, including Week 1 of this season.
  • The other streak we watch is the "+.500", meaning 5-3 and up... which is much, much harder.  Matt Latta owns the record with 17 weeks, spanning from DFC VIII to DFC IX.   The current streak is owned by Jonathan Osborne, who has done it for 5 weeks now.  Meaning to catch Matt, he'll have to go 5-3 or better for the next 12 weeks, and would be breaking the record in Week 2 of DFC XIV.  Good luck.  These are all regular season weeks we are talking about.
  • Its a pretty big deal to note that Tebershaw, Magic Mark Warner and Drew "The Grassman" Warren both nailed the TB this week.  I cannot tell you how many people have gotten it exactly, though in 13 years, I am sure its less than 10 or 15... but I am fairly certain its never been done twice in one day.  And I'm positive its never, ever been done three times in a single DFC game day.  Good job.
  • I don't mean to brag (yes I do), but I am happy to report that Yours Truly, winning 6 games this past weekend, crosses the 700 regular season win mark, and is the first person to do so.  Jenn Ernst is next on the list at 697, while the aforementioned Matty Latta is at 682.
  • The 600 win mark is a little way away, as Lori "Sunshine" Beirne is currently the closest with 574, while Defending DFC Champ Tyler "The Self-Proclaimed DFC Sexy Beast" Campbell is a long way off from 500, sitting at 428 lifetime.
  • James Hawbaker looks to hit 400 next, with 387, while Matt Halpert has now tied DFC Hall of Famer and 2 time champ Wookiee Fulaytar on the all time list--both has 294 wins.
  • DFC I champ Shawn Sharp is 10 away from 200, at 190.  And these are regular season wins.
  • Move the numbers around a bit, factor in some playoff wins, and you have All Time Wins... 7 DFC'ers are over 700 lifetime--Yours Truly, Jenny Ernst, Big Eddy, Matt Latta, Drew Morris, Tommy McLeod and The Mighty Gainey
  • Another 9 are over the 600 win mark, including Lori Beirne, who just crossed that number.   Only 2 sit between 500 and 599, Sarah Hasha and The Big Wasyluka, and Waz is only 10 away from 600.   Congrats to Trey who just won his 400th and 401st lifetime game, which is pretty good considering he's only been in the league six full seasons.  His 56 playoff wins, 8th all time, don't hurt him.
  • Between 300 and 399 are Ryan Sherman, Tebe Shaw, Zack Graves and Matt Halpert, while only Croyle and Justin Fisher are over 200, yet under 299.
  • Its taken 13 years, but Shawn Sharp looks to get over the 200 lifetime win hump--this, of course, being only his 5th season and all, while looking for 100 wins includes last years rookies, Jessica Hawbaker and Greg Graves.  Mark Warner is 1 away from his 50th career win, while Stamper just crossed the 40 win mark.
  • See what you rookies--Brad, Alex and Steph Latta--have to look forward to?
