Both Trey Cartledge and Bradley Pinkerton let me know that I had a game missing from their win total... the following is corrected from before.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
When it came down to the final game, while at dinner I thought a Pittsburgh win would give Steven Ray his first weekly win of his career... and as usual, I was wrong.  I had forgotten about Zacky Graves, getting a 7-1 record for the week and taking home the 4th weekly crown of his career.

Steven did manage a 2nd place finish, at 6-2, pushing Drew Morris back to 3rd for the week, while Yours Truly, Grandy Latta and Bradley Pinkerton all tied for 4th.  In 7th is Defending DFC Champ Tyler Campbell, tied for 8th is Lori "Sunshine" Beirne and Big Tom Johnson, and rounding out the Weekly Top Ten, at 6-2, is Scott Latta in 10th.

You'll notice Matt Latta's 0-8 finish... more on that in L,DL&S

A NOTE ON TRASH TALK

See, Gainey, this is why we can't have nice things!  I ask that you keep your trash talk centered towards another's (in)ability to pick games correctly, and/or the incompetance of their favorite football team... for instance, picking on Alabama's so called 14 championships, when 5 or 7 of them are real... or how Gene Chizik doesn't have Cam Newton, which means he won't have many numbers in the W column... or how the Ducks are stupid... and so on.

I agree with some sentiments to leave politics and any other hot button for Facebook... mostly because I don't want someone dropping out... plus, there are so many innocent email bystanders that have 922 unwanted emails in their inbox.   Agreed?  So sez the DFC Admin.  Go Gators.

THE STANDINGS

As an FYI--Week 4 is when your best and worst TB performance of the season so far will be removed, so some of you will see a big difference in next week's TBA, some of you won't see much of a bump.

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS
  • There have only been a handful of 0-8 records in the DFC recordbooks, with the majority of them coming as someone forgets to send their picks in.  But every now and then, we have a golden weekend when someone picks 8 teams... and every. single. one. of. them. loses.   Matt Latta, I'm talking to you.  Its almost as hard, maybe harder, as going undefeated for a weekend.  And I venture to say that no one has ever gone from 1st in the DFC Power Rankings to 39th in a single week.  Congrats, you have my mercy.
  • Sometimes we all need goals... and Shawn Sharp, here's one for you.  Since DFC I, only five DFC'ers have started a season with three straight 4-4 records... that is, 4-4 in each of Weeks 1, 2 and 3.  Who, you ask?  That's why we have this section!
  • The first time anyone went 4-4, 4-4 and 4-4 to start a season was Jason Duren, in his rookie year of 2003 in DFC IV.  Three years later, in DFC VII, Tom Johnson did it.  Eddy McBroom Jr did it the following year, then Ryan Sherman did it in DFC XI.  Strangely enough, only Ryan was able to have a winning record the 4th week of the season, as the others went 1-7, 3-5 and 2-6, respectively.  Ryan went 5-3 after his first three weeks.  And now Shawn Sharp sits at 12-12, after three straight weeks of 4-4.  Can he make it four 4-4s?
  • We do talk alot about "weekly wins", and we keep record of how many people have won in their careers.  Two people lead the board with 9 weeks each... The Mighty Gainey and Yours Truly.  Drew "Slash" Morris has 8, while Jenny Ernst, Mikey Nipp and Matt Latta each have 7.  As far as the rest goes, 26 DFC'ers have won multiple weeks, while 15 more have won 1 week each. And as mentioned, some, like Steven Ray, are still waiting for their first win.
