DFC X... Week Three

Note... I'll be out of the state from Thursday night to Monday night, so you won't see any updates until late Monday night, or possibly Tuesday morning. I will send out a 'reminder' email on Thursday, but after that, you forget, you go 0-8!

COLLEGE GAMES
18. Utah Utes (2-0) at Oregon Ducks (1-1), 2:30p, ESPN
Michael Nipp's pick... Another huge non-conference game for the Ducks early in the season. They got quacked by Boise State in their first game and was able to cause the Boilermakers to lose some steam last weekend. Autzen Stadium can be a daunting place for many an opponent but the Utes have proven to many a team that they mean business (Roll Tide.. what???)

19. Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0) at 13. Virginia Tech Hokies (1-1), 230p, ABC
Am I the only one who really wants the Cornhuskers to be good again? I mean, really? Who gives a rip about the Irish, I want Nebraska to be relevant again, and when they Oklahoma, for it to be a really big deal, not a stepping stone on their way to play Texas or whatever. Like, Solich should still be there, I give you that, but even now, I want them to be better. Oh, they play Va Tech here.

Michigan State Spartans (1-1) at Notre Dame Fightin' Irish (1-1), 230p, NBC
NBC and ESPN are almost in hysterics for the Fightin' Irish to be good. They took out a relatively decent Nevada team, and suddenly QB Jimmy Clausen was being touted as a possible Heisman candidate, and suddenly, they were destined not only for a BCS bowl, but possibly a BCS Championship slot and... then they lost to Michigan. As far as the Spartans go, they beat Montana State, as they should, but lost by 2 to Central Michigan, for the first time since 92. Forget Michigan--THIS will be a game Chuck Weis will be judged by.

West Virginia Mountaineers (2-0) at Auburn Tigers (2-0), 645p
Led by Pat White (?) last year, The WVU thrashed the Tigers last year, but these aren't your usual Tigers. Actually, after beating down La Tech and a possibly good, possibly terrible Missisippi State team, we don't know who these Tigers are. But who are the Mountaineers? They are a 2-0 team, but to get there, they beat Liberty by 13 and East Carolina by 15, but gave up 20 to both teams.

NFL GAMES
New Orleans Saints (1-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-0), 12p, Fox
Drew Brees, who had a monster game and threw for what, 2877 yards and 46 touchdowns, just happened to be the starting QB for the guy's fantasy football team that I happened to be against this past week. So yeah, I lost. But I picked Vick in my fantasy league... and I still hold by it. I said, "McNabb is going down in Week Five, Vick will take over with everything to prove." Okay, so it happened in Week One, and Vick can't play til next week...

Carolina Panthers (0-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-0), 12p, Fox
Really? They were 12-4 last year, and Delhomme had a bad playoff game... can the Panthers really be this bad? And the Falcons? Yeah, they beat the Fins, but it is possible that Matt Ryan isn't a fluke? Really?

Seattle Seahawks (1-0) at San Francisco 49ers (1-0), 305p, Fox
Uh.... not a clue. I barely can speak coherently about other games, but this one, I really have no idea. Pick 'em.

The New York Football Giants (1-0) at Dallas Cowboys (1-0), 720p, NBC
Personally, I'm on Team Peyton and not Team Eli, but whatever. I just want to see the kicker put that ball in the scoreboard.

TieBreak Game... Utah vs Oregon, total points scored...
Its a foregone conclusion that 97% of the DFC will pick Utah over Oregon... so let's make it the TB Game.
