THE WEEK THAT WAS
Well, this week was horrible for just about everyone by a record margin--more on that in LDL&S below, but for now, Yours Truly is proud to say that I captured my 6th Weekly Win of my career with a slightly above average 5-3 record.

Coming in 2nd was Daniel Powell at 4-4, followed by Sarah Hasha, also at 4-4. Gina Roose took 4th, Tyler Campbell took 5th, Scott Latta was in 6th, Ryan Sherman was in 7th, and rookies Brad Latta and Rhett Barnett took 8th & 9th--all at 4-4. Rounding out the Top 10 was Lori Beirne at 3-5.

LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS
  • Statistically, and record wise, this was the worst week in the ten year history of the DFC. Not only was it a record number of 1-7 records (8), it also marks the first time in DFC history that only one person (Yours Truly) finished above .500
  • Matt Latta has his worst week ever, finishing 1-7 for the first time in his 10 years. David Mark Osborne finished 1-7 for only the second time ever, the first since Week 12 of DFC IV in 2003.
  • Not only did three time world champion Tad Roose have his worst week ever, he's actually only had one single week that he went 2-6, back in Week 3 of DFC IV. Jason Duren has had 2 weeks of 1-7, but both were in his rookie season of DFC IV.
  • Even Garrett Cheney, who has been... well, bad, has only finished 1-7 once before (Week 8 of DFC VI).
  • And finally, here's a stat for you... NO ONE in the history of the DFC has ever started the season 1-7 or 2-6 and made the playoffs. With this many people this week, there is a good chance that stat will change, but there it is.
  • Only three times has there ever been a won by a 5-3 record... and who did it? DFC Hall of Famer Wookiee Fulaytar did it in Wk 10 in DFC I, and Yours Truly did it in Wk 7 of DFC VII... and then again, this week.
  • Among the streaks that ended this week was Matt Latta's +.500 streak (finishing at 5-3 or better in consecutive weeks) at 17. The current longest streak is now Yours Truly's at 5 weeks
  • Another streak that ended was Trey Cartledge's .500 streak (finishing 4-4 or better in consecutive weeks) at 19.
  • Rookie recap... hopping out to a very, very early Rookie of the Year lead (if they can pick Heisman candidates in August, then I can go RotY on ya) is Brad Latta and Rhett Barnett, who both finished a respectable 4-4. Others were not so lucky, as Dan Sellers went 2-6, while Steven Ray finished up 1-7, though he shares the Central Division cellar with Jason Duren and Garrett Cheney.
  • NFL starts next week... lets hope for some better results...
