THE WEEK THAT WAS
Once in the running for The GOAT, Mark "The Mighty" Gainey, a 22 year veteran of The DFC, has seen his legendary status slow a little over the years, though 2 championships - DFC IX and XVIII) are nothing to snivel at!  Either way, Gainey picks up his 11th career weekly win, and first since Wk 10 of DFC XXII, and right on time, as the race for the DFC Scramble heats up!

Mikey "The Future of the DFC" Nipp's career year continues strong, coming in at #2 for the week at 9-1, while Aussie Nate and Garrison "The Pride of Tybee Island" Ryfan both get much needed 3rd and 4th place finishes, also at 9-1.

David "What The" Tuck takes 5th, Tyler "TSPSBotDFC" Campbell in 6th, James "Almost the Playoff Maker" Hawbaker in 7th, DMOsborne and Eddy Jr tie for 8th, and rounding out the Top 10, a tie between The 2 time defending champ Zack "The Attack" Graves and Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky, all at 8-2.

LIES, DARN LIES, AND STATISTICS

Lets talk playoffs!!  First, here is the Top 10 All Time Playoff Records:

  1. Drew "Slash" Morris - 185-95
  2. Big Eddy McBroom - 175-90
  3. Mark "The Mighty" Gainey - 172-96
  4. Yours Truly - 160-103
  5. Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod - 123-95
  6. Tad "The Dynasty" Roose - 119-70
  7. Matt "The Mad Scientist" Halpert - 118-59 (retired)
  8. Jenni "Texas" Ernst - 107-80
  9. Steven "The Principal" Ray - 100-76
  10. James "The Playoff Maker" Hawbaker - 99-44

In 11th spot is the retired, and DFC X champ, Lori "Sunshine Beirne (the only chick to take home a title, by the way), with a 96-67 record.  Trey "The Answer" Cartledge has 94 wins, while Zack "The Attack" Graves has 89 playoff wins.

Trey has had a down season, so he likely won't add to this total, but Zack can possibly get to 100 wins with a strong run, or at least get to the 11th spot on the list

Now let's look at MOST playoff appearances - this does NOT count this season

  1. Drew Morris - 19 (currently on a 7 season playoff streak)
  2. Tommy McLeod - 17 (currently on a 3 season playoff streak)
  3. Yours Truly - 17 (currently on a 5 season playoff streak)
  4. Big Eddy McBroom - 15 (last appearance DFC XXI)
  5. Mark Gainey - 15 (last appearance DFC XXI)
  6. Jonathan Osborne - 13 (last appearance DFC XXIII)
  7. Jennifer Ernst - 11 (last appearance DFC XXI)
  8. Steven Ray - 10 (currently on a 5 season playoff streak)
  9. Tad Roose - 9 (last appearance DFC XXIII)
  10. James Hawbaker - 9 (last appearance DFC XXIII)
  • While I've called Mikey Nipp "the future champion" in jest, it's important to note how big of a deal this season is for him -- he sits at 43rd on the playoff list, with a 12-12 record. His last playoff appearance was in DFC V, back in 2004.  The last time he made the playoffs, Twitter, the iPhone, Netflix streaming and YouTube didn't exist.
  • At the conclusion of this season, that means Michael Nipp would have gone 1,912 games between playoff appearances.  Since he has clinched his division, that number is definite.
  • The new record will fall to Tom Johnson, who's last playoff berth was in DFC XI in 2010. If he does not work his way into the playoffs this season, he will have a current streak of 1,336
  • The other record that you don't want is "most games to start your career before a playoff appearance"... and that goes to none other than Garrett Cheney, who at the end of this season with 1,980 games... he began his career in DFC V, and has yet to make a playoff appearance.
For the record... the DFC25 Scramble will NOT count as a playoff appearance, and while it wont be added to your regular season total, it will be added to your overall career wins and losses. Its a quirk.
