DFC XXVI Playoffs: Wild Card Round

Welcome to the 26th playoffs of the DFC... Defending champ DMOsborne seeks to become the 2nd back-to-back champ in four seasons... Drew Morris tries to complete one of the greatest seasons in DFC history with a 3rd title... Steven Ray and Mark Gainey also try to define their "GOAT" status with a 3rd title, while Zack Graves and Tad Roose seek to be THE GOAT with 4 championships to their names - (if Zack wins, it's his 3rd title in 4 years, and that is truly Dynasty status)... Matty Pinky hopes to finally get over the hump to take a title home to the Pinky household (to match upstart younger bro Mitchy's title) while Jacob Pinky seeks to redefine his career of losing in being a champion... and Garrison wants to make his hometown of Bainswick proud by getting his name on the plate... can Jeremy The Burgeler become the first rookie 23 seasons to win a championship?  and finally, can Yours Truly actually win a title in a game I created?

Out of the 8 in this round, the best 4 records will move forward. Ties in record are broken by the TB game. THE WEEK THAT WAS
Going undefeated in a week isn't as rare as you think - 43 times its been done to win the week... and a few others times, someone has had an undefeated week only to not win the week, as someone else does it and has a better TB. Personally, that's happened to me a few times - and this week, it happens to Matt "The Coca-Cola Cowboy" Mink, who gets an 8-0 record... but finishes 2nd to Lt Dan "Magic Legs" Sellers, who goes 8-0 and gets his 5th weekly win of his own career.  

As the playoffs loom, this was a solid week for several people who needed to climb in the rankings - 3rd place goes to likely MVP winner Drew "Slash" Morris... 4th is Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky... Drew "The Grassman" Warren gets 5th... Hurricane Rhett is in 6th...  and Zack "The Attack" Graves takes 7th, all of them at 7-1.

• Longest active playoff streak?  Yours Truly, thank you, with 6 straight leading into this season, and Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod with 4, leading into this season
• Mikey Nipp's outstanding Hasha MVP winning season last year broke a 19 season drought between playoff seasons.  
• Current drought? Big Tom Johnson hasn't seen the playoffs since DFC XI, 14 seasons.  Trey "The Answer" Cartledge is approaching 7 seasons without the playoffs, while Chris "YO TEACH" Croyle hasn't been there since DFC XIX (6 seasons)... and Mitchell "Pinky the Younger" Pinky also hasn't been there since DFC XIX - but Mitchy won a title that season. Surprisingly, Big Eddy, who has 15 postseason appearances, hasn't been there since DFC XXI, 4 seasons
• Tad "The Dynasty" Roose also has an interesting playoff history - he had made it 9 times, and although out of 24 previous seasons, is somewhat average, he won 3 DFC titles - so 1/3rd of his playoff appearances found him hoisting the trophy - and he's been to 4 DeuceBowls, and 5 DFC Final Fours, so over 50% of his playoff runs resulted with him in the semi-finals
• Lets talk 60 win seasons, which is somewhat of a benchmark for success. 49 gets you a winning season, while 50+ tends to be pretty good, but 60+ is great. 
• First, only two DFC'ers have ever won 70... Jonathan Osborne in DFC XII and Steven Ray in DFC XVIII (neither won titles that year).  Eight DFC'ers have won 69 games in a regular season - active DFC'ers include Mitchy "Pinky the Younger" Pinkerton and Big Eddy Mac in DFC XVIII, Yours Truly in DFC IX... (notable that the retired Brad "Lawdawg" Latta did it 2x in three seasons)
• The most? Again, this lends to how long they/we've been in the league, but here is the entire active DFC roster and their 60+ win seasons:

• Awaiting their first 60 win season... Pinky Pinkerton... Garrison Ryfun... Coach DiB... Matt Mink... and rookie Jeremy Burgess (who is 11 wins away from 60 for the season, but currently sitting at 79th all time.) 
• With 18 games left, Garrison is 8 away, Pinky is 11 away, and Burgess is 11 away.  Coach will need to go 18-0 to get to 60, and Matt is 20 from 60, and the math doesn't work well there. 
• If you are wondering why this edition of LDL&S is the reason results are so late, you'd be right. This is a lot of number crunching. =)
