THE WEEK THAT WAS
It's always fun to see a return to prominence, especially with a guy who doesn't hit the top spot a ton - and even at 7-3, Chris "YO TEACH" Croyle wins his fourth week of his career.
7-3 was half the top ten, with Roth from Wyoming taking 2nd place, Big Eddy McBroom in 3rd, Big Tom Johnson in 4th, and Tad "The Dynasty" Roose in 5th (don't look now, but when Tad gets on a roll, he wins titles, as he's a 3x champion)
Coming in 6th place, Coach "Miami Vice" DiBello at 6-4, with Zack "The Attack" Graves in 7th, tied with Jeremy "The Director" Burgess. Finally, in 9th, tied at 6-4, is Drew // Morris and Danny "3D" Powell
Also finishing:
6-4: Tyler "The Self Proclaimed Sexy Beast of the DFC" Campbell... The Big Wasyluka... Aussie Nate... Matty "Pinky the Elder" Pinky... Trey "The Answer" Cartledge...
5-5: Jacob "Pinky the Pinky" Pinky... Yours Truly... Tommy "The Highlander" McLeod... Mark "The Mighty" Gainey... Eddy Jr... Braddy "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky... Steven "The Principal" Ray... Hey... lets do some...
There are three kinds of lies...
LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS - Mark Twain
Okay... lets chat about some records....
- We're 26 seasons in, with over 83,000 picks sent in by a total of 91 individuals - some only lasted a few seasons, some only lasted one season, and one Willis Watkins only had a few weeks - 12 wins total, sitting at #91 in all time wins
- On the upper end of that chart, however, when looking at regular season wins, 24 DFC'ers have over 1000 wins, and if you toss in playoff wins, that number gets to 25.
- But for the purposes of this week, lets look at regular season wins only... currently your top ten is Yours Truly (1493)... Tommy McLeod (1447)... Drew Morris (1429)... Big Eddy McB (1420)... Jennifer Ernst (1416)... Jonathan Osborne (1396)... Mark Gainey (1392)... DMOsborne (1386)... Tad Roose (1360)... and Eddy Jr (1354)
- Ready for a milestone number - Daniel Powell is 9 wins away from 1300 regular season wins lifetime
- Congrats to The Big Wasyluka who crossed the 1200 mark (1216 now) in the last few weeks
- Dan Sellers - incidentally the only person out of 91 in DFC history I've literally never met, but now in his 17th year, it wouldn't be the same without him. Is he 32 with a bachelor pad in Kenosha, Wisconsin? Is he 46, married, with 5 kids on a farm in east Toledo? No idea. But he got his 900th win this week, so good on him.
- Big week for Drew Warren, as he only needs 1 win to hit 800 lifetime, while Mitchell Pinkerton, former DFC Champ that he is, just hit the 600 wins mark (602 now)
- It's also hard to believe we've had a few of these guys in for four years, but Roth from Wyoming is one, and 4 away from 200 wins lifetime.
- Our only rookie this year is one Miss Independent himself, Jeremy Burgess, who currently sits at #89 on the all time win list, being only 3 weeks into his career. If he can score 51 wins this season, he'll find himself #77 all time, just ahead of legend Brook DeRamus, and 60 wins gets him to #75 total.
- Whats in a (nick)name: Wonder who these people are and why I gave them the nicknames? Drew Warren - he works (or worked) for a landscaping type place, hence "The Grassman"... Drew Morris did, or does, idolize Slash from Guns N Roses, and is quite the guitarist himself, hence, "Slash", or Drew // Morris... Tad Roose won three championships in the first 7 seasons of the DFC, with II, IV, and VII, hence, "The Dynasty"... finally, Chris Croyle, who I struggled for a nickname for quite a while... but when the movie "Funny People" came out, it featured a fake sitcom called "Yo Teach!" which fit Croyle quite well, as he is that very thing... so... YO TEACH.
