THE WEEK THAT WAS
While his dad has a long list of weekly wins in his 23 year career, Eddy McBroom the Junior has only two before this week - the first in Week 4 of DFC IV (2003) and the second in Week 2 of DFC XV (2014).  But now, 112 regular season weeks later, Eddy Jr has his 3rd win of his own career, as his name is etched into the massive records DFC Spreadsheet, at 9-1 overall.

Speaking of DFC Families, two Pinkys are in the top 3, as Bradley "Pinky the Wiser" Pinky is 2nd for the week, and Jacob "Pinky the Pinky" Pinky is 3rd, also 9-1.

A series of ties takes us through the rest of the top 10, including Defending DFC Champ DMOsborne and Mikey Nipp tied for 4th, Drew // Morris and Garrison "the Pride of Tallahassee" Ryfun tied for 6th, and Trey "The Answer" Cartledge and Aussie Nate tied for 8th, all at 8-2.

It's always fun to see a return to prominence, especially with a guy who doesn't hit the top spot a ton - and even at 7-3, Chris "YO TEACH" Croyle wins his fourth week of his career.

Coming in 6th place, Coach "Miami Vice" DiBello at 6-4, with Zack "The Attack" Graves in 7th, tied with Jeremy "The Director" Burgess. Finally, in 9th, tied at 6-4, is Drew // Morris and Danny "3D" Powell

Hey... lets do some...

There are three kinds of lies...
LIES, DARN LIES & STATISTICS - Mark Twain

Okay... lets chat about some records....

  • We're 26 seasons in, with over 83,000 picks sent in by a total of 91 individuals - some only lasted a few seasons, some only lasted one season, and one Willis Watkins only had a few weeks - 12 wins total, sitting at #91 in all time wins
  • On the upper end of that chart, however, when looking at regular season wins, 24 DFC'ers have over 1000 wins, and if you toss in playoff wins, that number gets to 25.
  • But for the purposes of this week, lets look at regular season wins only... currently your top ten is Yours Truly (1493)... Tommy McLeod (1447)... Drew Morris (1429)... Big Eddy McB (1420)... Jennifer Ernst (1416)... Jonathan Osborne (1396)... Mark Gainey (1392)... DMOsborne (1386)... Tad Roose (1360)... and Eddy Jr (1354)
  • Ready for a milestone number - Daniel Powell is 9 wins away from 1300 regular season wins lifetime
  • Congrats to The Big Wasyluka who crossed the 1200 mark (1216 now) in the last few weeks
  • Dan Sellers - incidentally the only person out of 91 in DFC history I've literally never met, but now in his 17th year, it wouldn't be the same without him.  Is he 32 with a bachelor pad in Kenosha, Wisconsin?  Is he 46, married, with 5 kids on a farm in east Toledo?  No idea. But he got his 900th win this week, so good on him.
  • Big week for Drew Warren, as he only needs 1 win to hit 800 lifetime, while Mitchell Pinkerton, former DFC Champ that he is, just hit the 600 wins mark (602 now)
  • It's also hard to believe we've had a few of these guys in for four years, but Roth from Wyoming is one, and 4 away from 200 wins lifetime.
  • Our only rookie this year is one Miss Independent himself, Jeremy Burgess, who currently sits at #89 on the all time win list, being only 3 weeks into his career. If he can score 51 wins this season, he'll find himself #77 all time, just ahead of legend Brook DeRamus, and 60 wins gets him to #75 total.
  • Whats in a (nick)name:  Wonder who these people are and why I gave them the nicknames?  Drew Warren - he works (or worked) for a landscaping type place, hence "The Grassman"... Drew Morris did, or does, idolize Slash from Guns N Roses, and is quite the guitarist himself, hence, "Slash", or Drew // Morris... Tad Roose won three championships in the first 7 seasons of the DFC, with II, IV, and VII, hence, "The Dynasty"... finally, Chris Croyle, who I struggled for a nickname for quite a while... but when the movie "Funny People" came out, it featured a fake sitcom called "Yo Teach!" which fit Croyle quite well, as he is that very thing... so... YO TEACH.

DFC XXVI - Week Two RESULTS

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Remarkably, it's been literally 73 weeks of regular season - stretching all the way back to Drew Warren, Matt Halpert, and Randy Latta's triple tie in Week 8 of DFC XVII (2018) - since we had a tie for the win, and we've never had a tie for Week 1.

And now we do -  The Coca Cola Cowboy himself, Matt Mink, scores his first win of his young career (he's a DFC Soph) while he ties up with James "The Prediction Maker" Hawbaker, scoring his first weekly win since DFCXXII.  Both were at 9-1.

Drew Morris was 3rd, also at 9-1, as was The Big Wasyluka and Yours Truly, in 4th and 5th, both at 9-1.
